Treatment Guide

OrthodonTic treatment deals with issues such as

overbite, underbite, tooth disease,

malocclusion and double teeth.

While there is not much history of orthodontic treatment in Japan, it is very common in Europe and in the United States, where it is considered an important part of a child's development.

In Japan, however, very few people have undergone orthodontic treatment and many people are often unaware that they have a problem with their teeth.

At CS Orthodontic Clinic, we use the latest equipment and provide the treatment to the same high standard you would receive in the United States.

  • Prevents correct pronunciation when speaking
  • Not being able to chew food properly leads to gastrointestinal damage
  • Embarrassment at laughing in public, which may lead to psychological problems

 Advantages of orthodontic treatment

  • Improved self-confidence, thereby improving academic and athletic performance
  • Improved health and way of life for the whole body

Before the process beings

A doctor will then take a look inside your mouth and explain the details of your condition. If you have any questions or anxieties the doctor will be happy to address them, so please do not hesitate to ask.

A dental hygienist will also explain the types of orthodontic devices available and the different pricing plans.

First consultations are by appointment only.

Please contact us via phone or e-mail to book an appointment.

* Please note, steps 1 to 2 are done on the same day, so please set aside around 3 hours.

Start of orthodontic treatment

If you are happy to proceed, we will begin the treatment.

After starting the treatment

Preparing to attach the orthodontic device

Issues such as tooth decay and tooth removal are treated first

If there are any issues such as tooth decay or the need for a tooth to be removed, this will be treated before the orthodontic device is attached.

If these issues are being treated by your primary dental care clinic, please ask them to write a letter explaining the issues to the doctor here.

Attaching the orthodontic device

One of our patients wearing an orthodontic device

We will attach your chosen orthodontic device.

It is normal to feel some pain at the start of this process. However, thanks to developments in orthodontic technology, we are able to control this to a certain extent.

The amount of time you will need to wear an orthodontic divice varies from person to person. On average, it could be 2 to 6 months or 1 to 3 years. During this time you will need to visit the clinic every 2 to 5 weeks, depending on your condition.

Tooth brushing practice

There are various tooth brushing methods depending on your orthodontic device. We will provide you with both written instructions and a practice session on how to brush your teeth while you are undergoing treatment. In addition, we will give you the appropriate toothbrush set for your chosen orthodontic device.

Wearing a retainer

Now that your teeth are straight, we will remove your orthodontic device and thoroughly clean your teeth.
This does not, however, mean the treatment is over. In order to prevent your teeth returning to their previous state, you will need to wear a retainer.
You will need to wear the retainer for around 3 months to a year, with the number of hours per day you wear the retainer gradually declining. We will also schedule regular check-ups during this time to ensure this stage also goes smoothly.

The end of treatment

We will do our best!

Once all the necessary check-ups are complete, the treatment will be over. Please remember to continue to keep brushing your teeth.

The clinic also provides a number of additional treatments you may want to consider such as teeth whitening.
